In less than a year, you will be prepared to enhance seniors’ quality of life by supporting the whole person: socially, physically, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually. Theory is delivered entirely online, practicums will take place in your home region.

I was nervous to go to college because I didn’t love learning in high school. But this program was different. I loved what I was learning. I could do it from home, and my teachers created an incredibly supportive learning environment.
It’s a fantastic day if I can take the seniors outside to enjoy the sunshine… and get the bubbles going, get the music playing and get the feet dancing. I see them trying to grab these bubbles with smiles on their faces. And I say ‘Oh, I wish I had a camera!’ How great is that?
As a Therapeutic Recreation Manager, I can tell you that Stenberg grads are very well prepared to walk right into that first job. They have all the certificates and credentials needed, so the hiring department doesn’t have to wait until all the paperwork is complete. That’s why so many get hired right after practicum, or in some cases, before their practicum is even completed.
My educational experience was life changing – from my instructors, to the relationships I built with my classmates, and the connections I made with residents during practicum. My practicum was invaluable. At my first placement, I made real connections with the residents. It felt amazing to know I brightened someone’s day. My first supervisor still texts me messages from the residents. It feels so special that they still keep in touch.
I can’t say enough good things about this program. The online format gave me the flexibility to continue working during the program. The teachers were very supportive and I never felt alone. There are weekly online sessions we did with our classmates and teachers helped me feel connected to everyone. I would highly recommend Stenberg College!!
